No candy review from me this week

This week I don’t have the space in my head to try and be witty, and write a nonsensical review of something as mundane as candy. Especially as candy is the domain of little kids.

My heart broke for the parents of the 20 children in Newtown.

It helped me to read and consider how things may get better. These 3 pieces were helpful for me. Maybe they will be for you.

I can completely respect this. I’ll be taking a different approach and will be posting reviews, but that’s just what works for me. Having two school shootings in one week makes it painfully obvious for me though, that something is very, very wrong with Americans. Nothing can help the families who are affected by this insanity, but there are potential solutions. The things that strike me the most are twofold: health care, and the absolute ridiculous place guns have found in American households.

Uniform health care won’t solve this problem, but it WILL help identify and help at least a few people suffering with personality disorders, and even if that prevents one of these shootings, then it’s worth it.

The gun issue, as loaded as it is, is much more frustrating. The solution is easy: it’s right in front of us. But we can’t DO it, because of business lobbying and American idiotic antiquated ideas of the right to bear arms. If there was a militia today, then it might have some level of validity. As is though, there’s still a solution: people want to be able to defend their homes? Fine. Discontinue all consumer available guns-all of them-and pass a law that they all must be fingerprint controlled. Additionally, they will only operate within the square footage of your house, regulated by transponders owned by the government. Say whatever you want…but this solves the problem.

It’ll never happen because we all like to say “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” That’s bullshit. Any clown who comes to a school with a knife or sword is going to be stopped, and everyone knows that.

So we all sit around, watching our kids get terrorized and losing their innocence, thousands upon thousands of lives affected, and it just keeps on happening. All because some old dudes in suits need to make more money on selling the guns and bullets.

Something is really wrong with us-and someone needs to fix it. Sometimes I get discouraged by this, and pull my head out of all things political. I don’t know how you deal with it, but I know one thing: grad your kid, brother, mother, dad, friends, hug them, and tell them you love them.

This isn’t a dress rehearsal. My deepest thoughts go out to everyone all over the world who’s ever been affected by something like this. Live with love, folks.

    Candy does help. 🙂
