Arizona Fruit Snacks

Fruit snacks are candy. You know it, I know it. Kids might not think so. They're wrong.

When I was a kid — actually, an adult but super young and stupid. I used to drink Arizona Iced Tea daily. Jonny did too. We called it AZ Ice. The sweet drink in huge cans was refreshing as hell.

Here we are in the wonderful world of today-meets-tomorrow. Mrs. Guru brought these little devils back to the house. I didn’t hold back from jumping in.

Arizona Fruit snacks package

Arizona Fruit Snacks has all the latest must-have marketing bits:

  • Gluten-free
  • Fat free
  • Made with real fruit
  • No preservatives
  • No artificial colors

These things are a plus but … will they have the sweet, fruit forward flavor I expect?

Arizona Fruit Snacks - the actual bits
Add a star for making some of the candy bits in the shape of an AZ Ice can!

The colors though? Left this reviewer wanting more. “No artificial colors” means we get muted, general hues to our candy… OH sorrrrry… To our “FRUIT SNACKS.”

With five flavors, there should be something for everyone. And this a nice list:

  • Fruit punch
  • Mucho Mango
  • Watermelon
  • Grapeade
  • Orangeade

Sadly, I cannot for the life of me really figure out which flavor goes with which candy… SORRY … “with which fruit snack.”

If I stare at a piece for a long time, think “ok yeah this light pink must be watermelon.” And then start chewing and reallllly concentrate like I’m doing a crossword puzzle, then ok. Yes. I am getting watermelon undertones. It’s a bit of work, but there. Given each morsel is the size of a thumbnail, you’ll be eating these by the handful, and they become basic fruit gems snacks thingies.

I do like how Arizona’s fruit snacks have more chew than other fruit snacks. Fruit snacks tend to be jelly-like and not so much my thang.

Besides the packaging, these don’t hearken me back to AZ Ice’s, and thus I’m a tad disappointed TBH. But you all — normal people who could really give 2 shits whether these taste like a cold beverage from your youth — then you might very much enjoy. Your kids will. Kids like anything sweet. And you can definitely get away with calling these candy.

Fucking loved AZ Ice. There’s like 450 calories in a can, bless it.
