Candygurus

We may be sour, but we know our sweets.

Where to buy?

Posted by Matty On May - 18 - 2009

We’re not paid to put these vendors here. We never ever even got free shipping from any of these folks. But we’ve bought from them, in most cases, and think you might want to do the same.

Internet-Style:

A Candy Store.com
This place recently redesigned too and I gotta say – easy to use. Plus they list candy by maker and types of course – but also by color. At first I thought this was a little…hmmm…girly? But actually, it makes total sense. Especially when you’re buying in bulk. When lil’ ol’ me buys in bulk – hell, gimme Haribo. But when joe office manager and betty music venue buy in bulk, they’re looking for gimmicks. And we all know the story of Van Halen and the brown m&ms.

Britsuperstore.com

Paydirt.  If you like Maynards Sours, this is your place.  Even with shipping included, the bags came to $5 each, a dollar less than Roxies, noted above.  LOTS of stuff on this site.

Candyfavorites.com

Good site design. Easy to find things. They have all the Haribo that us ‘mericans are allowed to sell/buy. They supposedly offer 2800 varieties of candy. Lots. Plus they have good shipping deals when you buy bulk.

Germandeli.com
They just re-did their site. Way less ghetto than it used to be. They were one of the very first (still the only?) place we’ve found real German and other European Haribo. In the States, we’re usually confined to a handful of varieties. No smurfs. No Saure Gurkins. But in Europe? Please. They live on that shit.

Jollygrub.com

An excellent source for Rowntrees candies. Extremely reasonable shipping too. Look for Juicy Jellies, Barratts Refreshers, and Rowntrees Sours.

World Of Sweets

A reader turned us on to this site.  This looks like the motherload for Haribo-definitely check it out!  To best view this site (as it’s in German, and their auto translation doesn’t work properly), simply use the free Google Translate function and the site works great!  This is truly-by FAR-the widest assortment of Haribo I’ve ever seen.  Word up though- the delivery will take 3-4 weeks, but the savings are worth it.

Bay Area Store Fronts:

Roxie’s Market & Deli
500 Kirkham St – San Francisco, CA 94101-(415) 731-0982
This place is the hook up For Maynard Sours. So fuc*king yummy.

Lehr’s German Specialties
Two older, sweet and flirty German ladies own this place. If you want all your real European candies, especially German ones, and not the stuff they create for the US, but the stuff they create for Europe – then Candygurus suggest strongly that you go here. In SF in Noe Valley.
