The holidays are over.  It’s depressing as hell-no more parties, no more easy excuses to daydrink, no more gifts.  No more nothing.  But for this review, it’s kind of fitting.  Today we’re looking at bark, which is always associated with the holidays, right?  Because of the peppermint?  Take a look at Luralu’s Dark Bark below.  Notice anything…different?

Hold that thought while you take a closer look.

Yep.  No peppermint.  No white chocolate.  This, friends, is bark at its purest.  It almost looks like the Doritos you never knew you needed:

So why Luralu’s?  What’s the big deal?  First, and most important, it’s delicious.  Very intense and pure chocolate, riddled with nuts & fruit.  But the big dealshere, the really unique thing, is that this bark is available year round, not just a month before Christmas.  Also, this bark is all natural-it contains chocolate, granola, dried cranberries & apricots, and pistachios.  All real, all handmade.

But what IS “bark”?  It’s just chocolate, right?  Yes and no.  It’s melted chocolate that’s then hardened so it will snap.  Cool.  But then why is all of it smothered in white chocolate and peppermint?

IT’S NOT NOW GUYS, THAT’S WHAT I’M TRYING TO TELL YOU.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that the bark thins you see in club stores are the real deal like these-they’re not.  Those other brands are using shitty ingredients and aren’t necessarily using fair trade chocolate- Lura is.  Basically, they’re all horrible people, and Lura’s cool.  That’s reason enough to buy these.  But do it for the taste-if you’re a dark chocolate aficionado,  you’l love this.

Look for more zany varieties of Lura’s bark coming soon-I don’t want to spoil the surprise but let’s just say salt is involved.  Salt!

My husband brought me home the Spicy. I Loved it! So much that it is almost gone in one day. Definitely going to order more. So delicious I would give it a 10 star rating if available.
