When’s the last time you heard of a small candy company that’s dedicated to keeping the Victorian Era alive by using the same equipment they did way back when?  Composed of two brothers and their sister, Colton’s Candies are on a mission to make some seriously good lollipops.  You can tell just from the packaging, these are made with care:

Love the wax paper tops and old school stems (you’ll get a better look at them soon).  We got the orange cream pop, and the root beer float pop.  Classic flavors.

Check out those stems-they’re not the standard white ones we’re used to seeing-I don’t know exactly what they’re made of, but they look and feel old school, and that’s what their company is all about.  But to be sure, I had to get the target demographic to give me their take on these. J onny Guru Jr. & his buddy were hanging out, so I gave them each one.  At first, they were skeptical:

Sure, they’ve eaten a lot of lollies in their day.  But these looked different.  Here’s some notes on the flavors from them:

Orange Cream : “creamy”.  “orangy”.  “sweet”.  “good”.

Root Beer Float: “tastes just like a root beer float”.

They’re…..not the most verbose pair.  But they did have a verdict:

Man, that face on the right is haunting.  And not in a good way.

Look, these dudes have eaten a LOT of lollipops, so it’s hard to get them excited about trying a new one.  But they enjoyed these-they’re big, have full flavor, and most importantly, clearly were made with love.
I’m a bit old to be a lollipop lover, but it doesn’t change the fact that I am.  I really liked these too, and I have to say, it’s really cool to see the old fashioned sensibility in them.  I also like helping small companies when I can and you should too (and these guys are small-when I was sent the candy, they had 3 flavors.  They now have 4.).  Give them a click below and I really think you’ll dig some good old fashioned (sweet) fun.
