I love Nerds. I’ve always loved Nerds. I was totally psyched upon entering the movie theater to see a new product from the sour geniuses at Wonka, “Giant Chewy Nerds”. Again, I love Nerds, I certainly love chewy, and giant is just more of a good thing, right?
Wrong. SO WRONG.
Let me get right to the point: they’re not sour. Hellllllllo!!! Nerds are sour, that’s the deal, right? But these have this lame candy shell, and then…an overly sweet gooey center. Not at all what I was expecting, and try as I might, I just couldn’t grow to like them.
At the Candy Gurus first official group tasting, I brought the remains of the bag I bought. Out of four people tasting (we had an additional friend there), not ONE of us ate more than one.
That’s bad.
So stay away, folks. I have no idea what Wonka is thinking, but this one’s a loser.
Bottom Line:
Just pretend they never existed, run out and buy a few boxes of good old fashioned Nerds (Sour are, of course, my fave), but any flavor will do. Avoid the chewy giant turds.
